Charlie Miller

Charlie Miller is a specialist in financial services vendor management, privacy and information security. A former Merrill Lynch executive, he works with The Santa Fe Group to build adoption of the Shared Assessments Program standards.

For more than twenty years, Charlie has provided management and consulting to the financial services industry, focusing on governance, risk and controls. At Merrill Lynch, his 15-year career included establishing the company's Vendor Governance Group and serving as director of the office of risk and controls. He spearheaded efforts to enhance global due diligence, oversight, and monitoring processes and procedures across the vendor management lifecycle for on- and offshore outsourcing vendors. Charlie's role included ensuring compliance with data protection/privacy laws, rules and regulations, and ensuring appropriate business and technology controls existed around collection, use, transfer, and destruction across affiliates globally and with third parties.

Prior to working with Merrill Lynch, Charlie was a principal with Deloitte & Touche, where his work focused on sales, marketing, practice development and delivery of technology-related engagements. Prior to Deloitte, he was with IBM for ten years in sales, marketing and technical support.

Charlie is a frequent speaker on vendor governance, information protection, risk management, privacy, and other topics. He is a Certified International Privacy Professional and a member of the IBM Data Governance Council.
