Gary S. Roboff

Gary S. Roboff is a Senior Consultant with The Santa Fe Group.

For more than three decades, Gary has contributed his outstanding talents to the financial services industry, and in particular to financial services payments systems. In 2000, Gary retired as senior vice president of electronic commerce at the Chase Manhattan Bank. Since then he has served as a consultant and strategist, leading industry efforts in emerging payments, payments convergence, and payments risk mitigation. Gary now lends his expertise to The Santa Fe Group as a consultant focusing on financial services payments, Internet functionality and information management.

During his career, Gary has focused on such issues as privacy and information utilization, business frameworks, changes in the payments and settlement systems, and standards for emerging e-commerce applications. He was a founder of the International Security Trust and Privacy Alliance (ISTPA) and serves on the organization's board of directors.

At Chase Manhattan Gary led efforts to return the Bank to the merchant services business with the founding of Chase Merchant Services LLC. Earlier, while on leave from Chase, Gary served as President and CEO of the NYCE Network and was founder of its successor corporation, Infinet Payment Services (now NYCE Payment Services, LLC, a division of Fidelity National Information Services

Prior to 1993, Gary was vice president and director of business planning and strategy development in the Electronic Banking Group at Chemical Bank. At Chemical and Manufacturers Hanover, Gary led the development of pinned debit services. He was a member of the NYCE board of directors (which he chaired from 1988 to 1990) from 1986 to 1993. Gary also served on the board of directors of the Electronic Funds Transfer Association and was the organization's chairman.

Gary earned his BA and MA degrees from Clark University, and has completed additional graduate work at MIT. Gary joined the Board of Trustees at Clark in September 1998. He serves on the board's Executive Committee and currently Vice Chair of the Board.
